Traditional England, Windsor, Real Ales, Cream Teas & Riverside Walk

A wonderful day out exploring the historic towns and villages along the River Thames from Royal Windsor with its fabulous castle to sleepy Marlow and historic Henley. With a mix of ancient buildings, rolling hills, traditional village pubs, riverside walks, real ales and cream teas you will truly get to see the real England.
We recommend this tour for anyone wanting to experience the best of traditional England on a relaxed day out from the city.

Departing central London you travel west until you meet the River Thames at Runnymeade where in 1215 King John sealed the Magna Carta and founded the modern rule of law. Runnymeade has a number of important monuments including the Royal Air Force Memorial. From here it is a short drive through Windsor Great Park to the Royal town of Windsor, home to one of the Queen’s most impressive residences. During your stop here you will have time to visit the Castle and State Apartments. On certain days you may see the changing of the guard ceremony. Alternatively you can follow the free self-guided Windsor and Eton heritage trail or take a boat trip on the river (seasonal).

From Windsor it is a short distance to the beautiful riverside town of Henley on Thames where you will stop for lunch. Henley has a number of historic attractions, riverside walks, boat trips and lovely cafes serving traditional cream teas. The town also has its own small independent brewery producing real ales that you can sample in a local pub.

In the afternoon you will explore the lovely scenery and pretty villages of the Chilterns on route to the quiet riverside town of Marlow. The town offers everything from cosy cafes to traditional pubs and historic hotels as well as beautiful parks and of course the Royal swans on the river. The town is an important centre for the sport of rowing and you may see crews training on the Thames
After a relaxed afternoon you return to central London, only a short distance away but a different world to where you have been today.

**Please note - on certain dates the tour may stop in Marlow for lunch rather than Henley on Thames

I Just a short note to say thank you so much for a lovely trip. Did the Oxford/Stratford trip with Pauk and Debbie yesterday. It will definately stand out as a memorable moment. I'm actually quite happy with the fact that we got some rain, must be my romantic side, as I saw the real English weather.
